The webpage I use is set up by fotomerchant and while being a great platform, there are some features of their webpages which are set and can be confusing. I have started this frequently asked question page to hopefully answer some of your questions. I have looked at the photos and would like to buy some. What are my options?
Firstly thank you for taking the time to look at my website and deciding to purchase some photos. There are three options, digital prints, digital photos and packages.
Digital Prints
Digital print orders are completed by an outside company selected by fotomerchant. Occasionally the crop doesn't suit the photos, and fotomerchant will ask me to check the cropping. Where the crop cuts to much, where possible I will supplement for a similar photos. If this is not possible, I will then send you an electronic copy of the photo.
Digital Photos
Digital photos can be purchased as part of standard products or as a package.
Standard products is a set price per photo. (first tab) They are set at a tier pricing, so the more you buy the cheaper they are per photo.
Packages are group of multiple photos sold at a set price per photo. (second tab). This will only be visible if packages have been set up
How to purchase photos
- go to products page
- Select the first photo you want to purchase by clicking on cart underneath the photo
- on the popup window, it automatically displays "standard products". (If products are available, it will be the second tab. please read below on how to purchase packages of photos)
- Select Digital prints (2017) - personal use
- Click on the plus sign to add the photo to you cart
- Click on continue shopping or checkout if shopping is completed.
Purchasing of digital prints via standard products work on a tier pricing and are in equal value to packages. The information icon only displays information on next tier.
How to purchase a "package of photos"
- go to products page
- Select the first photo you want to purchase by clicking on cart underneath the photo
- on the popup window, it automatically displays "standard products" which includes all printed media and digital prints (priced per photo). Click on "packages"
- select the package you want to purchase and click on "add package"
- It will then take you to the my packages tab. Click on the plus sign to add the photo to a slot.
- Click on continue shopping (if package is full click on checkout)
- On the next image you would like to purchase, click on add to cart. Click on the plus sign to add the photo to a slot.
- Continue this until all the "slots" are full, then click on check out
Ok, I have purchased and paid for my photos, how am I going to get them?
When you places a Digital Download order, the Fotomerchant system will go to work generating a brand new image file at the particular resolution they've specified.
Generally this will happen (almost) immediately and will occur when still on the order page. The page will automatically refresh and a link prompting you to download the files will appear right there in the browser.
If you has placed a large digital order, or the system happens to already be processing a large volume of digital products for other Fotomerchant members, there will be a short delay before your JPGs are ready to download. In this scenario you will receive an automated notification email when the products are ready with instructions to bring them back and access their files. It won't matter if you move away from the order page
I have been asked to provide a photo to my sponsor/ newspaper/ gym for promotion reasons. Is that OK?
That is fantastic! Photos bought from this site are for private and non profit use only. If it is for non profit use, please ask the company/ group to email me for permission. All photos used must acknowledge the photographer (owner of the image).
If use falls out of the above criteria, then a license for commercial use needs to be bought. This includes being able to crop/ change and/ or remove the watermark. Please contact me to discuss
